What is Gift Aid?

Gift aid is a Uk government scheme that allows registered charities and Community amateur sports clubs to claim back the tax that was paid by donors on gifts to your charity.

Here’s how it works.

Jane Smith donates £100 to your charity. If she is a tax-payer and has filled out a Gift Aid form, the charity can claim back the tax paid of £125.

It requires a one-off form from the donor. Higher rate tax payers can also get more tax relief for themselves on donations too on their tax-returns.

The charity needs to be registered and apply to the HMRC of charity recognition status. You can do that here.
